What house cleaning costs
45 €/hour for one cleaner, 90 €/hour for two. For larger houses two is worth it: the work does not take twice as long, it finishes in under half the time.
| House size | Time with two | Cost |
|---|---|---|
| 100–130 m², maintenance clean | 2–3 h | 180–270 € |
| 130–200 m², maintenance clean | 3–4 h | 270–360 € |
| Over 200 m², maintenance clean | 4–6 h | 360–540 € |
| Deep clean | +50–100 % | agreed |
How it differs from a flat
Cleaning a house is not simply a larger flat. The order of work and the points of focus are different.
- Two floors and stairs — dust gathers at the edges of the steps and on the handrail
- The sauna and washroom as a section of their own
- The utility room, often the dirtiest space in the house
- The entrance hall and the area by the front door, especially in the thaw
- Several times more windows than in a flat
- Heating system filters and ventilation vents
The sauna needs its own treatment
A sauna is not cleaned with the same products as the rest of the house. All-purpose cleaner must not be used on the benches: it stays in the wood and starts to smell as it heats. Benches are washed with a mild sauna cleaner and rinsed thoroughly.
The stove is cleaned on the outside and the stones checked. If the stones have crumbled we will tell you — they should be replaced every few years, otherwise the steam weakens and the stove overheats.
Cleaning qualifies for the tax credit
Cleaning is ordinary household work and qualifies in full. For 2026 the credit is 35 % of the labour cost, up to 1 600 euros per person, with a 150 euro own-liability.
In a house the credit matters more, because the invoices are larger. Spouses claim separately, for 3 200 euros combined.
Regular or one-off
In a large house regular cleaning is clearly cheaper per hour. Once the baseline is maintained, each visit is shorter.
A one-off deep clean suits spring cleaning, the aftermath of renovation, or preparing to sell. Cleaning before a sale pays for itself: a tidy house at a viewing affects the price more than the cleaning costs.
Frequently asked questions
How much does cleaning a house cost?▾
With two cleaners, 90 €/hour. A 130–200 m² house takes 3–4 hours as a maintenance clean, so 270–360 euros. A deep clean takes 50–100 % longer.
Do you clean the sauna?▾
Yes, using a dedicated sauna cleaner. All-purpose cleaner must not be used on the benches — it stays in the wood and smells when heated. The stove is cleaned outside and the stones checked.
Is it worth booking two cleaners?▾
For a house over 130 m², yes. Two cost twice as much per hour but finish in under half the time, because no time goes on moving between rooms and carrying equipment. The total is often lower.
Does it qualify for kotitalousvähennys?▾
Yes, in full. 35 % of the labour cost, up to 1 600 euros per person, with a 150 euro own-liability. In a house it is worth both spouses claiming separately — 3 200 euros a year combined.
Do you clean windows?▾
From inside, yes, as part of the clean. The outside is agreed separately, since in a house it often needs a ladder and takes its own time.
Do you bring your own equipment?▾
Yes, everything. Products, cloths, mops and a vacuum. We use Finnish eco-labelled products.
Customer Reviews
“Large house, 140 sq.m, plus sauna. Two cleaners came, got everything done in 3 hours. The sauna was cleaned separately — benches, floor, walls. I wouldn't have achieved such a result myself in a whole day.”
