Why leaves should not be left on the lawn
A layer of leaves blocks light and air. Come spring you find yellow, mouldy patches underneath that take months to recover — often the area has to be reseeded.
A thin layer of shredded leaves is a different matter: it breaks down and acts as fertiliser. A thick mat of whole leaves packs down when wet and smothers the grass.
Yard work qualifies for the tax credit
Yard work is ordinary household work. For 2026 the credit is 35 % of the labour cost, up to 1 600 euros per person, with a 150 euro own-liability. A rise to 40 % and 2 100 euros has been proposed for 2026–2027.
The credit applies to labour only. Waste removal is a transport service and does not qualify, so it is priced separately on the invoice.
For housing companies
We also handle yard maintenance for housing companies and property managers. The contract covers lawns, walkways, planted areas and the space around waste bins to an agreed extent.
The usual arrangement is spring and autumn clean-ups at a fixed price, with additional visits after storms ordered separately. We often combine this with mowing and snow removal in one contract, so the yard is looked after year-round under a single agreement.
